Love your crowning glory

I truly believe that I have the best job in the world. Each day, I get to sit down with my clients, catch up with their lives and cut and style their hair. Some have naturally radiant, super strong hair. For many of us however, health, age, stress have given way to problematic hair conditions which can really affect our confidence.

As we approach what I call “hibernation season”, our hair is up against the winter blues. Dull, lack lustre and frizzy are all common associations with this time of year. But don’t despair, there are lots of simple things you can do to ensure your hair is winter wonderful.

  1. Embrace your natural hair type and work with it to look your best. Use the correct shampoo, conditioner and styling products that work well with your hair. Professional haircare ranges contain high quality ingredients that nourish and care for specific hair conditions.
  2. Keep your regular routine hair appointments. Chop off those dry ends, freshen up your style, colour those roots. All these will help to make you feel and look great. It’s also a little bit of time out for you.
  3. Eating well really plays a big part in strong, healthy and shiny hair. Eating the right foods is key to nourishing, repairing and rejuvenating your hair cells. Include extra vitamin A, C, D, H as well as iron, selenium and zinc in your shopping this month.
  4. Your hair gets thirsty and water is the very best way to quench it. Staying hydrated, drinking 8 x 8 oz glasses of water per day, will leave your mane strong and healthy.
  5. Consider a whole new look. Sometimes, we just need a change. New style, new colour, it doesn’t have to be dramatic. Even subtle changes can help us to feel good about ourselves.

I hope that these ideas have given you inspiration. Our hair is such an important part of who we are and we must embrace and make the most of what we have been given. Promoting self-love amongst my family, friends and clients is a big part of what I do. So why not start from the top? Love your hair and you will reap glorious benefits.  I look forward to seeing you in the salon chair soon.
