Nature’s Elixir to Beautiful Hair
After a cold and wet June, let’s hope summer is fast approaching. Hazy summer days, G & Ts, eating supper in the garden and lighter evenings. The season we look forward to every year.
As the temperature ramps up, don’t underestimate the importance of staying hydrated. Your hair gets thirsty and water is an essential ingredient for a glossy and healthy mane. And what’s more, it’s free!
Here’s the science – Water makes up almost 25% of the weight of a single strand of your hair. Approximately 50 to 70% of our body mass is made up water including skin, tissues, cells and organs. Water is a natural miracle ingredient that supports vitamin consumption and assists cell growth, strengthening and detoxification.
The importance of staying hydrated – Our hair thrives on moisture rich environments and water is one of the best ways to quench its thirst. Every day, we lose water through perspiration, urine, breath and bowel movements. Dehydration can have a massive impact on our hair, leaving it dry and brittle.
Drink your way to beautiful hair – Drinking two litres of water every day, can dramatically improve your hair, helping to keep your skin and nails strong and healthy too!
- Reduces flaking, itching and dandruff
- Prevents hair loss and promotes growth
- Reduces hair breakage and frizz
- Balances your hair and skin PH
- Enhances the natural vitality of your roots
Added benefits include: keeps wrinkles at bay, prevents water retention, keeps the digestive system and muscles in top condition and even aids weight loss.
Kala’s Top Tip – not a big fan of plain water? Quench your thirst with infused Lemon and Cucumber water with a spring of mint. It’s healthy, sugar-free and refreshing. Great for detox and weight loss whilst keeping you hydrated.
Get a jar or glass bottle and fill with two litres of water. Add sliced lemon and cucumber, cover it and place in the fridge. Enjoy.
So, to keep your crowning glory in top condition this summer, make sure you increase water intake. Think of it as the 8 x 8 rule, eight 8 oz glasses of water, per day. Remember to book your routine hair appointments too. Your hair generally grows faster in the summer so keeping up with your regular cuts is important. See you in the Salon.
