It’s a warm welcome back from all the team at Cabelos. We have loved re-opening the salon and welcoming everyone. 

Thank you for your patience and support with the additional covid regulations. Keeping you all safe has been our top priority and doing our bit to stop the spread of the virus. 

It’s certainly been scorching hot recently and with that comes frizzy hair.  Whilst this weather is lovely, it can play havoc with our hair. How do we tame our crowning glory and keep it looking summer chic? 

With hot and humid weather, our hair gets thirsty and reaches for moisture in the air. Each cuticle or hair layer swells up, resulting in the dreaded frizz. The best way to counter this? Apply enough moisture to your hair so it doesn’t have to look elsewhere.

Here are our top tips to get frizz free hair this summer – 

1. Keep your regular hair appointments up to date. Have a good cut and get rid of those dry, dead ends. 
2. Avoid hot steamy showers. Turn the temperature down a notch to prevent raised cuticles, a leading cause of frizz. 
3. Wash and condition your hair with the best quality, hydrating ingredients. Some shampoos contain ingredients that can actually make frizz worse. Choose wisely. We have a range of high performance products in salon to suit your hair type. 
4. Try not to wash your hair too regularly as this can strip out your hair’s natural oils. Ensure you use a suitable conditioner to lock in moisture. Also, take a break from heated styling tools where possible too. These just dry out hair even more. 
5. Treat yourself to a weekly professional hair treatment at home. Our hair masks contain soothing ingredients that seep into your hair strands and lock in nourishment. The perfect way to unwind. 
6. Eat your way to frizz free hair by including some moisture rich and nourishing food in your diet. Incorporate more sweet potato, blueberries, salmon, chicken, avocado, citrus fruits and walnuts in your cooking. 
7. Make hair care a priority. Taking the time to look after your hair will have important benefits to your mind, confidence and well-being.

This is undoubtedly one of the toughest of times for all of us of on both a professional and personal level.  The team and I are really missing seeing your lovely faces in the salon, sharing stories, cutting and styling your hair and watching you walk out with a confident smile.

BUT we are pleased to announce and ever so hopeful that we should be able to re open the salon doors July 4^th

Steps are being put in place following advice from the government as well as the National Hairdressing Federation to ensure that the salon is a safe environment for the team as well as you our wonderful, loyal & patient clients.

Things will look and feel very different in the salon, but we will do our upmost to make sure you enjoy your experience with us as much possible.

Along with many other vital safety measures we will be operating a safe distance policy, a reduced volume of clients in the salon at one time, the team will be wearing PPE, and extra time will be allocated between clients for cleaning to take place.

We will be asking you to provide your own facial covering, your own refreshments and magazines in order to maintain the strictest of safety guidelines.

As you can imagine we are going to be inundated with you all wanting appointments once we open our doors, your stylist will contact you to get you booked in if you had a booking during the lockdown. Fear not, there are a few simple things you can do to get your hair in top condition for this holiday season. Here are my top tips: 

1. Increase your water intake. It may not be prosecco but it’s free! Your hair gets thirsty and making sure you drink plenty of water will nourish and strengthen your hair strands. Drinking two litres of water every day, can dramatically improve your hair, helping to keep your skin and nails strong and healthy too! 
2. Your hair needs extra moisture at this time of year. It can become dry, brittle and lack lustre. We need to give it some extra moisture and professional hair products are the perfect remedy. I have a range of nutritious and environmentally friendly haircare products in the salon that can be tailored to your specific hair type. 
3. Give your hair a break from styling products and heat tools.  With a busy social schedule, our hair is put under more pressure. Sometimes, it just needs a time out from styling and heat. Take a day out, slather your dry ends in coconut oil, wrap a towel round your head and put your feet up for an hour. Leave the coconut oil in for as long as you can, even overnight and see how this natural product can revive dry hair. 
4. Once a week, use a deep conditioning mask on your hair. These are available to buy in salon and will give your hair some extra shine for that special night out. They are also great stocking fillers for friends and family. 
5. Get your routine hair appointment booked in plenty of time for Christmas. This way your hair will look and feel it’s very best for Christmas and the New Year.

As we approach what I call “hibernation season”, our hair is up against the winter blues. Dull, lack lustre and frizzy are all common associations with this time of year. But don’t despair, there are lots of simple things you can do to ensure your hair is winter wonderful. 

1. Embrace your natural hair type and work with it to look your best. Use the correct shampoo, conditioner and styling products that work well with your hair. Professional haircare ranges contain high quality ingredients that nourish and care for specific hair conditions.

Keep your regular routine appointment

It may be cold out but making sure you keep up your regular trims will help to remove those damaged and dry ends.  

Keep heat styling products to a minimum

Already dry and damaged hair is exacerbated by heated styling tools. Seek out alternative styling such as heatless curls and waves. Experiment with ponytails, twists and buns. 

Enjoy a weekly moisture mask

Eat well
